The main purpose of this fund is to provide financial support to young people who study teaching and to promote the sustainable use of Afrikaans as a functional language. Bursary loans are awarded to students studying towards a teaching qualification and, if funds are available, other qualifications as well. Part of a loan can be turned into a bursary on the basis of academic performance.
Education in South African schools plays a cardinal role in the future of the country. Education not only plays a role in the future of today’s children, but also has a direct impact on issues like unemployment, corruption, shortages of human resources and, ultimately, sustained economic growth and development in South Africa.
